To send money to China online, you need the following information:

  • When you first register with Western Union, you’ll need government-issued ID to prove your identity. This could be your Australian driver’s license or passport. You must also be over 18.
  • Your receiver’s full name, as it appears on their ID, and address. For bank transfers, you also require their bank account number and branch name, alongside the purpose of the transfer.
  • Your credit4 or debit card, or a prepaid card issued by an Australian bank, to pay for the transfer to China.
How do I send money to China from a Western Union agent location?

Transferring money to China from Australia by using a Western Union agent location is quick and easy. Just follow these steps:

    1. Search for a Western Union agent location near you.
    2. Go to the counter with your valid government-issued ID and your receiver’s bank and account information.
    3. Arrange the money transfer to China and pay for it with cash or card.
    4. You’ll receive a Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) on your receipt. Share this number with your receiver to track the funds and keep tabs on your transfer.
How do I send money to an Alipay user in China?

To send money to China via Alipay* accounts, follow these simple steps:

What receiver information do I need to send money to a China bank account?

You need your receiver’s full name (as it appears on their ID), bank name and code, account name and number. In some cases, you might also be asked the purpose of your money transfer to China.

  1. Ensure the user has installed Weixin app and registered with a Chinese mobile number.

  3. In the app search for the ‘Weihuikuan’ mini-program in, then choose ‘I want to receive funds’, and click on ‘Create Receiving Profile’.
